Walk the Circle

If you acknowledge that walking a straight line means not turning left or right, then there is only one way you can walk along a circle and turn neither left or right. It would be like standing on a big wheel and walking forward (you could also walk along the interior of the wheel, but for our purposes that would be "inside" the sphere).

If you stand straight up when you walk, and most people do, then the only way you can walk along a circle/line of latitude in this way is if it's the equator. I'm fairly sure that 6 miles south of the North Pole is not the equator, so if you walked along that line of latitude, standing straight up, you'd be walking on a curve, constantly turning to the left. People watching you would say, "That person is walking along a curve!" The only way you could walk along this circle of latitude and not turn left or right would be if you were at a really funny sharp angle (constantly changing this angle), and not standing straight up. If you could somehow manage this, then from your perspective I suppose you could claim that you're walking in a straight line. This would only seem logical to a Flatlander, and they would be right when they claim to be walking along a straight line.

"We're on this road heading east, and if you look at the map it curves."
"No, it's straight! Walk the circle and see it's straight!"
